Velashape is the first and safe, effective and painless FDA approved non-surgical medical solution for the reduction of cellulite. VelaShape ™is the first and only medical device that penetrates deep enough into the adipose tissue to effectively and safely treat cellulite. A Velashape estheticians performs or oversees this treatment in Skin Thera P’s state-of-the-art facility.

The velashape procedure combines the use of RF energy along with infrared light to heat localized fatty tissue, while a vacuum mechanically manipulates, smoothes, and tightens the skin. Velashape reduces cellulite and circumferential inches on the thighs, buttocks, arms, love handles, and the abdomen. The combination of infrared and RF energy is delivered through a handheld device which passes over the skin using rollers and a vacuum action. The heat device precisely targets the treatment area underlying tissue, causing shrinkage and tightening the fat cells. The procedure also increases lymphatic drainage, resulting in a reduction of the dimple appearance of cellulite by reshaping the skin’s surface and firming the specific area. velashape usually takes about 35-60 minutes long, with no downtime. Four to eight treatments are recommended and performed at one week intervals.

These four components produce heat, which stimulate the tissues with liberation of fat and mobilization of extra fluid in the skin. This technique enhances the deposition of new collagen to provide a smooth surface on the skin while recontouring the cellulite problem area.

The following areas can be treated using velashape:
Posterior Thigh
Thigh and Hips
Anterior Thigh
Upper Arm

How does cellulite removal feel?
Patients describe the feeling as similar to a deep tissue massage along with a warm feeling on the skin. We recommended 1 session per week for one month. Most patients report improvement after 2 weeks and a significant reduction in the appearance of cellulite after one month of treatment. Each session requires approximately 40 minutes. There is no pain involved with the procedure.
Most women have tried dieting, working out and a number of products on the shelves to reduce the appearance of cellulite with little or no results.

Frequently asked VelaShape ™ questions

How much improvement can I expect?
All patients in the FDA studies demonstrated improvement in cellulite appearance as well as reduction in thigh circumference with an average reduction of nearly 2 centimeters in thigh circumference.

What’s a VelaShape™ treatment like?
Dr. Greenberg or your aesthetician will pass the VelaShape™ hand piece which has suction,  warmth, and radio frequency, that will  penetrate to the fat layer in your skin. Since this is a medical treatment for cellulite, and far beyond the ineffective spa-type procedures, there is typically some level of minor discomfort over the area with the cellulite. This may be repeated a number of times. You will feel a strong massaging action from the VelaShape™ device.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies for each individual, but typically a series of 4, performed once a week for 4 weeks, offers measurable as well as visual improvement. Each treatment generally takes only 30 to 45 minutes. Note – With the new smaller treatment hand piece, you’re able to reduce the number of sessions needed to get great results. Now, too, smaller areas around the knees, the bra line or arms can benefit from VelaShape™.

How is VelaShape™ different from other cellulite machines?
Other types of cellulite reduction equipment offered only massage and suction, rendering it far less effective. Since the infrared light and radio frequency of VelaShape™ actually heat the fat cells, the effect is one of dispersal and removal of the cells – not simply a breaking up of some of the hardened tissue.

Is there downtime?
Skin Thera P’s™ VelaShape™ requires no downtime or time “off”. You may return to your regular activities immediately. Treatments can even be performed during your lunch time hour.

FAQs about cellulite removal:

Is there a recovery period or healing steps?
Since the velashape is a non-invasive procedure, there is no recovery time. However, you may notice an increase in your urine output due to the broken down cells being absorbed and excreted by the lymphatic system. Please be sure to drink plenty of fluids to help your body in flushing out this material.

What Is Cellulite?
The term cellulite simply describes a pitting, bulging, and deformation of the skin caused by the over-inflation of fat cells from an increase in fat storage.  Cellulite usually appears on the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, calves, and arms, and is most common in women because their fat cells reside closer to the surface.  Genetics and insufficient water intake can also contribute to cellulite development.  More than 80% of women over the age of 20 years, regardless of their weight or size, are affected by cellulite.  Over the years different techniques have been used to try to improve cellulite.  These have included a variety of creams and lotions that promise a reduction in the appearance of cellulite, but generally have led to less than satisfactory results. Surgical removal has also not proved to be a popular approach. Newer methods, involving the use of lasers and laser-like technologies, such as the VelaSmooth and others, represent  non-invasive non-surgical methods of reducing cellulite and re-contouring the body to look smoother and firmer.

What Happens During Laser Cellulite Treatment?
During the procedure, the targeted cellulite fat cells are heated below the surface of the skin. This heat promotes better circulation to the local area, which may allow for more oxygen exchange for increased fat cell metabolism.  Following the delivery of heat, today’s cellulite technology provides a vacuum action with deep tissue massage to the treated area.  This approach both mobilizes fat while at the same time stimulating the formation of new collagen.

What Will the Treatments Feel Like?
During the treatment you will feel a deep, soothing heat in the targeted area.  The treatment can be compared to the feeling of the sensation of finishing an intense workout or having a deep tissue massage.
