The CO2 Laser has long been considered the “gold standard” device for laser skin resurfacing of the skin in an effort to correct wrinkles, laxity, scars, and pigment problems. Although effective in the right hands, the lengthy downtime and somewhat narrow safety window associated with this procedure limited this laser’s widespread use….until now.
Hailed as the anti-aging treatment of the decade, the Calgary Laser Health & Beauty Centre fractionated CO2 laser is a skin resurfacing treatment that levels wrinkles and tightens underlying skin. This laser delivers powerful results without the harsh side effects of older CO2 lasers.
The natural aging process, combined with exposure to sun and pollution, destroys collagen, the main protein of connective tissue that keeps skin plump and line-free. The beams of energy light from laser treatments act as a catalyst for the body’s natural production of collagen.
The Active FX laser procedure treats fine lines and surface texture, while the Deep FX laser procedure targets deep wrinkles and scars. The TotalFX laser procedure combines surface and deeper treatments for more complete results. The laser treatments provide immediate changes and long-term benefits. The recovery period for these treatments is usually 7-10 days. Some persistent redness may linger after this period, which can easily be covered by make-up.
How Calgary Laser Health & Beauty Centre Fractional CO2 Laser works
Rather than affecting the entire skin, the Calgary Laser Health & Beauty Centre UltraPulse® CO2 laser ablates only a fraction of the skin surface, allowing bridges of non-affected tissue to stimulate rapid healing. This new approach to fractional laser skin resurfacing is more comprehensive, and considerably more effective, than previous fractional systems utilizing other laser systems (i.e. Fraxel re:fine/re:store™, Palomar StarLux®).
Treatment can be tailored to each patients needs, with regard to both clinical indication and severity. Dr. Knight can adapt your treatment to your specific problem and tolerance of downtime.
• Deeper wrinkles and scars require treatment with the DeepFX™ protocol; the fractional CO2 laser penetrates to deep dermal collagen but there is a higher percentage of untreated skin, enabling fast healing.
• The ActiveFX™ protocol treats sun spots, dyschromias, and light winkles; a larger spot size but limited skin penetration also promotes rapid healing.
